Young punks make mark on music scene

MILLICENT punk rock band Human Garbage has come a long way since humble beginnings in a school music room.

In two years, vocalist and bassist Jack Lane, guitarist Jasper Hammat and drummer Ryan von Einem have landed regular gigs around the South East and were one of the headline acts at the recent Rock Til Ya Drop festival.

The group recently entered three tracks into Triple J’s annual Unearthed High competition in the hope of being selected as the best high school act in the country.

ON THE RISE: Members of the punk rock band Human Garbage Ryan von Einem, Jack Lane and Jasper Hammat have quickly established themselves within the South East music scene.

“We thought we’d enter because we have the chance to go to Sydney to record and get some mentoring from musicians,” Jack said.

“If you win, Triple J comes to your school with a famous band and you have the chance to support them.

“It’s good to get ourselves out there while we are still at school.”
