MILLICENT has gone through yet another Western Border Netball Association season undefeated to claim its eighth consecutive grand final title, this time against East Gambier.
The Saints were ruthless from the first whistle – leaving nothing to chance – and eventually took the game by 27 goals.
The Bulldogs would be disappointed with their grand final performance, but then again Millicent is the clear benchmark of the competition.
East’s goalies in Tenille Gray and Sarah Lock were making the most of their opportunities, but the ball was not getting into the Bulldogs attack on enough occasions.
The pressure from the Saints through the mid court was nothing short of impressive and both Donna Denton and youngster Nyah Allen had confidence in the goal circle.
By half time the difference was 18 goals and things were not looking too positive for East.
Both sides injected fresh legs at the break with East’s Morgan Amy heading into wing defence and Tanaya Redman doing the same for the reigning champions.
Not a lot changed and as a result East coach Bo Creek injected herself into defence and Brenna McKay into goal shooter.
Millicent also made alterations in the final term with both Denton and Allen swapping bibs.
In the end the Saints managed a comfortable 27-goal victory with young star Allen taking out best on court honours.
Final score: Millicent 67 def. East 40.
