Gas search set for region

BEACH Energy will start drilling for conventional gas exploration in the South East after securing a $6m Plan for Accelerating Exploration (PACE) grant from the State Government.

The company’s Haselgrove-3 well, located 8km from Penola, will target conventional gas and gas liquids in an attempt to bring new gas to the local market within three years.

Under the terms of the grant, if a discovery is deemed to be commercial, Beach will enter bilateral negotiations with prospective South Australian customers for the supply of gas.
